TRAIL CREW AT SUNSHINE VILLAGE
WHAT DO YOU DO?
This amazing group of men and women, are the Trail Crew at Sunshine Village Ski Resort in Banff, Canada. They fly under the radar in their all-black uniform and are the unsung heroes and work horses of the ski industry. Their mission is to control and harvest snow with fences to make sure that there’s enough snow in the right places on the mountain and that it’s safe to ski. These guys carry 20lb fence drivers and steel posts around with them whilst skiing some of Sunshine Villages most difficult and exposed terrain, often boot packing through rock gardens and traversing dangerous areas.
I spent a day following them on their rounds, checking fences, skiing incredible powder and witnessing the feral and competitive antics in their locker room. Weighted pull ups for lunch? Sure! Thanks legends.
